The Driver of the Bus Rapid Transit bus where Oluwabamise Ayanwole, a 22-year-old tailor, got missing, has been arrested.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, confirmed this in a short message, saying that “details will be provided later.”
Recall, the Lagos Police Command had earlier issued a statement confirming that Oluwabamise Ayanwole had been found dead
The driver has been on the run when the news broke. The police had arrested his guarantor while tracking him.
Ayanwola was said to be returning to Ota from Ajah on Saturday, February 26, when she boarded the BRT bus en route to Oshodi around 7pm at Chevron bus stop.
She became apprehensive when the bus sped off without picking other passengers at subsequent bus stops. Oluwabamise Ayanwole reportedly engaged a friend using voice notes on her phone. She followed it with a video recording.
The voice notes indicated that the bus driver said he liked Oluwabamise and asked for her name and other details.
She pleaded with her friend to pray for her as she became wary of the bus driver. In response, her friend asked her to alight at Oworonsoki bus stop, way before Oshodi.
