Ondo Decides: Agboola Ajayi Is Contesting-Akinduro

Voters in Ondo state South West Nigeria woke up on Election Day to a surprise news on circulating on social media. A press statement that said candidate of third force in the state, Zenith Labour Party, Agboola Ajayi has pulled out from the governorship poll. Ajayi is also the Deputy Governor of Ondo State.

News Central’s Nasir Agbalaya reached out to John Paul Akinduro, a member of the Zenith Labour Party and former media aide of Olusegun Mimiko, a former Governor of Ondo state.

In the phone interview, Akinduro denied that Ajayi has pulled out of the race. He added that Ajayi is in his hometown to cast his vote.

Akinduro added that the document being circulated is from the ZLP. Adding that a media aide of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is responsible for the fake document. The said aide was identified

Olorunleke Akeredolu. This claim has not been independently verified.

Last minute propaganda, ZLP is grateful for the attention this has brought.

NC asked if this will not be a breach of election rules and possibly lead to the disqualification of the candidates of ZLP and APC, Akinduro said it will not adding that it is not.
