The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ondo State governorship election, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, has been defeated in his own local government area, Ese-Odo.
Ajayi lost to the incumbent governor and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, who emerged victorious in all 18 local government areas of the state, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In Ese-Odo, Ajayi secured 7,813 votes, while Aiyedatiwa garnered 14,511 votes.
Aiyedatiwa, who also won in his Ilaje local government area, received 24,474 votes compared to Ajayi’s 3,632.
Ajayi, a former deputy governor of the state, entered the race under the PDP banner but was unable to turn the tide against the APC’s stronghold in the state.
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s sweeping victory across all local government areas has solidified his position for another term, marking a decisive win for the APC in the off-cycle governorship election.
