One Dead, Four Injured in Nakaseke Bomb Explosion (News Central TV

A bomb explosion at Kapeeka central ward, Kapeeka town council has claimed one life and rendered four people wounded. The incident occurred at around 9:00am.

LC3 chairperson of Kapeeka sub-county, Moses Ssenfuma explained that the blast occurred after the victims picked an explosive from an unknown place, and started crushing it for scrap thereby sustaining broken limbs and multiple fractures.

The local police are awaiting bomb experts to investigate the matter. On Wednesday, another bomb exploded in the home of Sam Jjooga, a resident of Nvunanwa village in Semuto sub-county.

Eyewitness Haruna Mbidde said that although he was a distance away from the incident, he had earlier seen the victim holding an object that resembled an old rusty rocket-propelled grenade.

Police identified the injured as Anthony Asiimwe and Nelson Tukwasibwe. Both were admitted to the local hospital in Nakaseke.

The victim was the fifth person to die from a bomb explosion in less than a month in the country. Two weeks ago, three children died in Segalye village in Semuto sub-county while playing with a bomb. The bombs are believed to be remnants left after the 1981-1986 National Resistance Army War.
