Emergency responders recovered the body of an 11-year-old girl from the scene of a collapsed mosque at Yusuf Street in the Papa Ajao area of Lagos State on Sunday.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating, “The rescue operation is ongoing, but as I speak with you, the corpse of an 11-year-old girl has been recovered. The operation is still ongoing.”
News Central reports that worshippers were in the mosque when it unexpectedly caved in during afternoon prayers. While many managed to escape, others were trapped under the rubble.
Passers-by quickly mobilised to rescue the trapped victims. Emergency responders, including the police, were called to the scene and commenced immediate rescue operations.
