Galatasaray attacker, Henry Onyekuru has been named as the replacement for injured Samuel Kalu in Nigeria’s squad to face Benin Republic and Lesotho.
Kalu, who plies his trade with Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1 picked up an injury recently and has been immediately replaced by Onyekuru.
Onyekuru has had a change of fortune in recent time as he switched from AS Monaco in France to the Turkish giants. He had spent months on the bench with the Principality club before Fatih Terim gave him an opportunity to get his form back on track.
Rohr, two weeks ago invited 24 players ahead of the qualifying games in Lagos and Cotonou with Onyekuru on the standby list.
With the attacker scoring five goals and assisting since he rejoined Gala, he’s been in a rich vein of form and may have impressed national selectors.
