In the upper chamber of the National Assembly in Nigeria, a fresh set of leaders has emerged amidst the struggle for majority principal offices.
The newly appointed leaders, all belonging to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), have been chosen through consensus. This was announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Akpabio revealed the positions of the appointed leaders on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, as the Senate resumed plenary following a three-week break.
The designations declared by Akpabio are as follows:
- Opeyemi Bamidele: Senate Majority Leader
- David Umahi: Deputy Majority Leader
- Mohammed Ali Ndume: Senate Majority Whip
These developments bring fresh dynamics to the National Assembly, and updates regarding the appointments within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
