Nigeria’s president-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu received two governors of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at Defence House, Abuja, on Friday.

The incoming president held a meeting with Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike and his Oyo State counterpart, Seyi Makinde.

The two governors were among the aggrieved G-5 governors of the PDP who refused to work for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, PDP Presidential candidate in the February 25 election won by Tinubu.

They insisted that as precondition to support Atiku, the PDP National Chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu had to resign.

There are indicators that although the governors met with Tinubu in Abuja, there were no political undertones.

A source said: “Governor Seyi Makinde President-elect, Asíwájú Bola Tinubu and Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike met in Abuja today.”

In his words, Governor Makinde said “Elections are over. We will support President-Elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration…”

Governor Wike said, he was confident that Tinubu has what it takes to turn Nigeria around, for the better. He urged Nigerians to give the incoming president all the supports he requires to succeed.

They added that they came to pay homage to the President-elect; that elections are over and time to face governance is now, and they will support and cooperate with Tinubu to succeed and turn the fortunes of the country around.
