Victor Osimhen was in the mood again on Saturday as he helped Napoli snatch a 2-1 win from behind against Udinese. Osimhen grabbed a second half brace to put the game beyond their opponents after going behind in the first half.
It was Osimhen’s second double in two games.
The goals were also the attacker’s 10th and 11th goal of the season in the Serie A and his fifteenth in all competitions.
The brace also helped the former Lille attacker set a record as the first Nigerian in the Serie A to hit double figures in consecutive seasons. It also placed Osimhen on an elite list of Africans to have hit double figures twice in the league. Other Africans who have managed the feat are Liberia’s football icon and current President, George Weah, Cameroon football legend, Samuel Etoo and Liverpool and Egypt star, Mohammed Salah.
Osimhen’s double were also the 70,000th and 70,001st goals of the Serie A on an evening where many records were set by the Nigerian.
The Super Eagles attacker is three goals short of his highest ever in a top-five European league
Napoli will be without Osimhen in their next league game after the attacker picked his fifth yellow card of the season in the game.
The Nigerian international is expected to lead the line for his country when they face Ghana in the last phase of the Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
