Victor Osimhen has confirmed his availability for the 2022 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon, weeks after he was ruled out of the continental football showpiece.
Osimhen had sustained multiple fractures of his facial bones after a nasty collision with Inter Milan defender, Milan Skriniar in a Serie A game.
The surgeon who corrected the bone displacements said Osimhen may be out for up to three months, a few days after he had declared the attacker will only miss 6 months of action. Osimhen’s recovery has however been better and faster than expected and he has declared himself ready for the AFCON if invited.
In a tweet on his official Twitter page on Tuesday, Osimhen wrote; “I will be available for AFCON unless if am not among the players picked to represent NIGERIA,”
Osimhen is by far an AFCONprospect as he’s roundly considered arguably the most important player of the Super Eagles and one of those to look out for in Cameroon.
The return of the SS Napoli attacker is a boost to Nigeria and Super Eagles handlers currently led by Austin Eguavoen who was brought in to replace Gernot Rohr on an interim basis.
Nigeria is expected to release a 40-man list in the coming days ahead of the AFCON before pruning the number to 28 for the tournament.
