Osimhen Scores Brace As Napoli Pulls Ahead By Ten Points (News Central TV)

Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen scores twice and assists once as Napoli thrash Juventus to move 10 points clear in their quest for their first Serie A title since 1990, after a 5-1 win over Juventus at the Diego Maradona stadium on Friday. Juventus had won eight consecutive games without conceding a goal, but that streak was shattered on Friday night.

In the 15th minute of the encounter, Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen headed in a rebound effort after Wojciech Szczesny parried Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s shot from 12 yards for his 12th Serie A goal (36th league goal) of the season and his 40th for Napoli since joining the club.

Osimhen’s goal was his first versus the Bianconeri in four outings since joining Napoli in 2020. The strike also halted Juventus’ eight-game unbeaten streak in Serie A and Szczesny’s 770-minute streak of clean sheets. Osimhen then set up Kvaratskhelia to increase their lead, but Di Maria got one back for Juventus before halftime.

Rrahmani restored the hosts’ two-goal lead 10 minutes after halftime, and Luciano Spalletti’s side dominated from there.

Victor Osimhen headed in his 12th Serie A goal of the season after Georgian sensation Kvaratskhelia set him up with a beautiful cross.

Osimhen’s latest goals put him four ahead of Lautaro Martinez, Marko Arnautovic, and M’Bala Nzola in the Serie A goal statistics. Juventus conceded five goals in a competitive game for the first time since May 1993, with Elmas’ deflected attempt completing the scoring.

Massimiliano Allegri’s team, Juventus has only conceded seven goals in the League this season and are currently third, level on points with second-placed AC Milan.

But this was a breathless and comfortable Napoli performance, one that highlights the hosts’ credentials for their first Serie A title since the late Maradona was a member of their squad 33 years ago.
