Nigerian international and Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is at the summit of Manchester United’s four-man striker shortlist, according to Football Insider.
United manager Erik ten Hag has named a new striker as a top priority this summer, with Anthony Martial out injured and Wout Weghorst only signed until the end of the season.
Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez all scored twice as Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 7-0 at Anfield on Sunday in the English Premier League.
According to Football Insider sources, United are now looking to make three big signings this summer. One of those spots will be taken by a new striker capable of making a significant contribution to Ten Hag’s much-improved squad. Along with Osimhen, United has identified Harry Kane, Tammy Abraham, and Benjamin Sesko as possible summer signings.
United have scored 77 goals in 40 appearances across all competitions this season. However, the Red Devils have relied largely on Marcus Rashford, who has scored 25 goals in 39 appearances this season.
Osimhen has a superior scoring record for Napoli this season, with 21 goals in 26 appearances, including 10 goals in his last nine Serie A games. Osimhen’s signing is expected to cost United more than £100 million this summer. Napoli wants to keep him but is aware that offers will come in at the conclusion of the season.
