With an easy 5-0 aggregate win over Eintracht Frankfurt, Napoli advanced to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. Victor Osimhen scored twice as the hosts won the second leg 3-0 in Naples, becoming the first Nigerian to record two goals in a UEFA Champions League knockout match.

Numerous Frankfurt fans traveled to Naples and engaged in combat with Italian police before the game, throwing smoke bombs and flares and setting cars on fire, despite being prohibited from entering the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona due to unpleasant events in the first match in Germany last month.

While fan conflict in the city’s streets ruined the evening, Piotr Zielinski’s penalty gave the Serie A leaders success, making it a one-way street on the field.

After a strong victory in Germany, Napoli was favored to progress, and a brace from Osimhen and Zielinski’s penalty helped them do so.
