Outrage Over Sex Education in South Africa

Faith-based organizations have slammed the curriculum idea, noting that inappropriate materials are used, which could trigger the curiosity of children.

Faith-Organisations in South Africa have challenged the Department of Basic Education on their plan to introduce a comprehensive sexuality education program.

The program department in the country aims to introduce the initiative as part of a life orientation under the curriculum assessment policy statement.

However, Faith-based organizations have slammed the curriculum assessment idea, noting that inappropriate materials are used for scripted lessons, which could trigger the curiosity of children.

According to the latest statistics, more than 23,000 girls under the age of 18 gave birth between April 2020 and March 2021.
