According to the Nigerian Defence Headquarters, 1,332 terrorists have turned themselves in, to Operation Hadin Kai soldiers from the Joint Task Force in North East Nigeria.
Major General Musa Danmadami, the director of defence media operations, made this announcement at the Bi-Weekly News briefing in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, stating that the briefing covered the period from 23 February to 9 March 2023.
He stated that, “the surrendered terrorists and their family members comprising 222 adult males, 411 adult females and 699 children surrendered to troops at different locations within the theatre of Operations”.
While surrendered terrorists and members of their families were being profiled for further action, he noted that all recovered items, rescued civilians, and apprehended suspects had been given to the proper authority for further action.
He claims that in support of ground operations, the air component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out a number of air interdiction actions against terrorist strongholds and supply lines.
The Director reported that in the South-South of the nation, soldiers of Operation DELTA SAFE found and destroyed 74 illegal refining sites, 341 storage tanks, 31 wooden boats, 260 ovens, and 15 dugout pits while conducting Operation OCTOPUS GRIP and other operations.
