Over 20 Miners Trapped in Ethiopian Cave, Rescue Efforts Underway

Rescue operations are currently underway in a remote area of northern Ethiopia following a cave collapse that trapped over 20 artisanal miners.

The incident occurred three days ago in the Delanta district while the miners were engaged in the search for opal gemstones. The exact number of individuals trapped remains unclear, and the rugged terrain has posed challenges to the rescue efforts.

With the difficult terrain hindering access to machinery, hundreds of locals have joined forces to manually dig openings in an attempt to reach the trapped miners.

Despite persistent rescue attempts, success has yet to be achieved. However, authorities maintain optimism about the possibility of finding survivors.

In a glimmer of hope, officials recalled a previous incident where a miner was discovered alive after being buried inside a cave for seven days.
