At least 9,500 Palestinian detainees are currently being held in Israeli prisons, according to a statement issued by prisoners’ affairs organisations and reported by Middle East Monitor on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
The Commission of Detainees’ Affairs and the Palestinian Prisoner Society confirmed that the detainees include 21 women and 350 children.
Furthermore, 3,405 Palestinians are being held without charge or trial under Israel’s controversial administrative detention policy.

The statement also highlighted that 1,555 detainees are from Gaza. This figure represents a significant increase from the number of detainees in Israeli jails before the Israeli war on Gaza in October 2023, when approximately 5,240 Palestinians were imprisoned.
The figures are part of a broader toll from Israel’s ongoing military offensive in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of nearly 48,400 Palestinians, the majority of whom are civilian women and children.
Over 111,000 people have been injured by Israeli destruction, which has left Gaza in ruins.
A ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, which took effect on January 19, temporarily halted the brutal assault.
