Oyibo Nwani, a leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and an agent in the elections for the governorship and house of assembly in Ebonyi State, was shot and killed on Saturday by thugs who stormed his voting place in the Onicha Local Government Area.
Onicha LGA is home of the PDP governorship candidate, Chief Ifeanyi Odii.
The thugs reportedly came to steal ballot boxes, but young people frantically tried to resist them. Reports state that during the following melee, the PDP chieftain who was clinging to a ballot box was shot in the head.
