Two Nasarawa State University, Keffi students died while distributing palliatives, while 23 others were hospitalised.
Abraham Habu, the school’s Head of Information, disclosed this to newsmen.
He stated that the state government had provided the school with resources to help students cope with the economic downturn.
According to him, the palliatives were scheduled to be distributed today at the school’s convocation stadium before some students overcame the security on the ground, resulting in a stampede that killed and injured the students as they carted away the food items.
He stated that normalcy has been restored, and the 23 students are receiving medical care.
The Nasarawa State government had early in the week launched the distribution of palliatives to students of tertiary institutions in the state.
9,000 students from the tertiary institutions in Lafia and Akwanga have benefited from the distribution early in the week.
