The Dutse-Baupuma area of Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Friday was greeted with pandemonium as sporadic gunshots rented the air, chasing away miscreants.
Security forces engaged miscreants, who were looting remnants of illegal structures being demolished by a Taskforce of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).
Trouble started when miscreants and scavengers started looting properties of people whose houses were demolished by the FCDA taskforce.
The hoodlums were seen dragging different household properties with the owners. Anyone who stood in their way was either injured or have all his house looted by the hoodlums.
Armed security officers who were in the convoy of the Taskforce team of the FCDA started shooting in the air when the miscreants overpowered the residents, causing serious chaos.
The inhabitants said that has been the situation since Wednesday this week when the authorities started the demolition exercise of houses in the area over an offensive erosion that swept many houses in the areas between Sunday, June 26 and Monday June 27, 2022.
Normalcy is said to have been restored in the area by the concerned authorities.
