Black Stars, and Atletico Madrid midfielder, Thomas Partey was on Saturday named Sports Writers Association of Ghana’s sports personality of the year 2018.
Partey saw off CAF deputy general secretary Anthony Baffoe and former WBO super bantamweight champion Isaac Dogboe to win the award.
Partey also won the Footballer of the year award seeing off competition from Kassim Nuhu, Felix Annan, John Antwi, and Joseph Aidoo.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder was instrumental for his country as he helped Ghana qualify for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
Meanwhile Black Queens striker Mukurama Abdulai won the best female footballer of the year award. She beat two other Black Queens players Faustina Amoah and Grade Asantewaa to the prize.
She scored 12 goals in the qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup and also scored 7 goals at the tournament in Uruguay.
