The opposition Peoples Democratic Party in Nigeria has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress party, APC is planning to sway the results of petitions that are currently pending in the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal, according to the Peoples Democratic Party.
Debo Ologunagba, the PDP’s national publicity secretary, told reporters on Sunday in Abuja that the party was warning Nigerians and the international community about shocking revelations, rumours, and allegations of APC plots to sway the outcome of the presidential election petition that is currently being heard by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal.
Festus Keyamo, SAN, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, responded to PDP on Sunday by accusing it of using cheap blackmail and reverse psychology to get Nigerians to support its petition before the Presidential Election Tribunal.
Ologunagba continued, “The PDP also warns of recent intimidation, harassment, threats, and vicious attacks by APC leaders against Nigerian youths and notable Nigerian figures for speaking out against APC’s planned actions to oust a government that enjoys the support of the majority of Nigerians as expressed at the polling units.
“The alleged planned attack by APC leaders on notable Nigerians and our democratic institutions, including the judiciary, is the result of APC’s apprehension, given the strength of the evidence against it and the ongoing refusal of the majority of Nigerians to accept the results of the flawed presidential election, according to the report.
“There are concerns in the public sphere over the standing of a few people at the top of the APC who have shown a tendency and capacity to undermine democratic institutions in our nation.
“It will be recalled that on May 5, 2023, our party expressed concern about Senator Bola Tinubu’s widely denounced remarks during the opening of some judicial projects in Port-Harcourt Rivers State, whereby he allegedly attempted to patronise, groom, and corrupt the judiciary.
“More concerning are claims that some APC leaders have attempted to influence the judiciary through significant cash inducements and the orchestration of false accusations of improper behaviour against judicial officials.
“The PDP calls on the APC and its leaders to publicly address Nigerians and the rest of the world over these upsetting charges and disclosures that are already in the public domain.
“Furthermore, the APC and its leaders have used inflammatory tactics to accuse Nigerians of treason for speaking out against the APC’s subversion of our democratic processes.
“INEC’s unusual answer to the PDP and our candidate, Atiku Abubakar, asking for the appeal to be dismissed is another proof of the APC’s collusion, corruption, and compromise with INEC, which is an umpire that ought to be independent.
