Real estate magnate Chief Jude Ezenwafor has emerged as the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the upcoming Anambra State governorship election, scheduled for November 8, 2025.
Col. Chijioke Onwubuya (rtd), the chairperson of the PDP national committee assigned to oversee the party’s primary election in the State, announced Ezenwafor’s victory in the primary election that took place on Tuesday at the Prof. Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.
Ezenwafor ran for the PDP governorship nomination unopposed as he was the sole aspirant to obtain the party’s nomination forms.
853 delegates, consisting of 839 elected representatives from the 21 local government areas of the State and 14 national delegates, were accredited to participate in the primary election.
Although Ezenwafor was the only candidate, each delegate received a ballot paper to indicate their preferred candidate. The voting process took place in a local government area, starting with the national delegates casting their votes first.

With Ezenwafor now recognised as the PDP flag-bearer, four political parties have nominated candidates for the forthcoming Anambra State gubernatorial election.
This comes after the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) endorsed the current governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, as its candidate for the election; the All Progressives Congress (APC) has selected Prince Nicolas Ukachukwu; the Labour Party (LP) put forward Chief George Muoghalu, the former managing director of the Nigeria Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), while the African Action Congress (AAC) features Miss Chioma Ifemuludike as its candidate in the race.
