The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Tinubu to investigate and recover over ₦25 trillion allegedly misappropriated by leaders and officials of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a New Year statement titled “Address Insecurity, Fuel, Food Crisis” and signed by National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, the PDP urged the President to tackle pressing issues such as insecurity, food shortages, and fuel supply to ease the hardships facing Nigerians.
The PDP criticised President Tinubu’s past addresses, accusing them of being filled with “hopeless rhetoric, false promises, and unsubstantiated statistics,” and demanded concrete steps to reduce fuel prices, alleviate hunger, and improve national security.
The party also challenged the President to account for funds accrued from the removal of fuel subsidies and to address corruption allegations. It called for an investigation into the alleged diversion of government resources by APC leaders and officials, who are accused of turning agencies into “Automated Teller Machines” for personal enrichment.
The PDP further urged the government to revisit unresolved cases of state-backed violence, including the 2020 EndSARS protests, and to take responsibility for improving the country’s dire living conditions.
Despite the criticisms, the PDP encouraged Nigerians to remain hopeful, law-abiding, and committed to restoring economic stability and constitutional democracy in the nation. The statement concluded with a New Year greeting to all citizens.
