Kefas Agbu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who received the most ballots in the gubernatorial election held on March 18, has been named the governor-elect of Taraba State by Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The New Nigeria People’s Party’s Muhammad Yahaya, who received 202,277 votes, was Agbu’s closest competitor. Mr. Bwacha, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress, received 142,502 votes, and Danladi Baido, of the Social Democratic Party, received 28,374 votes.
Agbu was proclaimed the victor on Tuesday by the state’s INEC returning officer, Professor Mohammed Abdulazeez, and the vice chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa University after determining that his victory met the criteria for being named the governor-elect.
Agbu won 11 local governments out of the 16 local governments to emerge the winner.
