The presidential candidate of the Labour Party and former Governor of Anambra state Peter Obi on Thursday, donated N75 million to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Specialist Hospital, Nkpor, Anambra.
Obi disclosed that the money, issued through a cheque, was his personal contribution and that of his Paediatrician friend Dr Philip Ozuah, who is based in New York.
He appreciated the hospital for the commendable work they are doing, and encouraged them to keep up with the good deeds of uplifting humanity. He also called on well-meaning individuals and groups to support the hospital to keep supporting the less privileged in society.
“I have been doing this for years and will continue to offer my support for this. I will always support institutions that are well managed.
“I most sincerely thank the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters for the wonderful work they are doing in critical areas of development such as health, education and pulling people out of poverty,” he said, while presenting the cheque.
In November last year, the LP front man donated N20 million to Faith Foundation Mission Hospital in Nsukka.
According to him, the act was “in line with my consistent commitment of investing in the most critical areas of national development, namely: health, education, and poverty eradication”.
