The Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD), part of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), has elected a new set of leaders.
The elected officials, led by Chairman Augustine Egbon, were voted in by the members at a special conference in Lagos, defeating his opponent, Lucky Osesua.
Other members also elected were: Oluchi Chinagorom was chosen as national secretary, with Lawan Garba, Mathias Ote, Dauda Olabisi, and Olaolu Akinmuyise becoming national vice-chairpersons of the PTD-NUPENG for their respective zones.

Two more positions, first deputy national chairman and second deputy national chairman, were filled by Malut Abubakar and Odinakachi Nwafor, respectively.
These new leaders will serve for a four-year term, and will be responsible for overseeing the union’s activities.
The elections were conducted following a court order which overturned the previous election in October 2023, in an effort to ensure a fair and transparent process.
