The Israel-Hamas war, which erupted after the acclaimed Palestinian fighters attacked Israel on October 7, has continued to wreck lives and property in its time path.

Gaza City, a heavily populated urban center, has been decimated amidst the fierce conflict between Israel and Hamas with hundreds of thousands lost following Israel’s continual bombardment of the city.

The Israeli government has sworn to wipe out the Hamas fighters, a move the international community has been divided about.

The city has suffered greatly from the Israel-Hamas war as a result of the most recent wave of violence, which resulted in extensive destruction, senseless deaths, and serious infrastructure damage.

However, the Israel-Hamas war seems far from over.

Many including former security agency chief Ami Ayalon have called for a two-state system to curb the incessant violence between both parties.

He argued that without a two-state solution framework, the Hamas fighters won’t be destroyed and “will flourish again.”

“We have to understand this war is on two fronts. One is the battlefield, but the other is a war of ideas and Hamas will be defeated only on the second front,” he said during an interview on Wednesday.

Israel-Hamas War tears Gaza apart

“The major defeat for Hamas is a future of two states. And unless we should discuss the future of two states, there is no way to defeat Hamas and to create a better political horizon for Palestinians and for Israelis,” he added.

At the moment, over 27,000 Palestinians (the majority of whom were women and children) in the Gaza Strip have been killed while 66,000 remain wounded with hardly any healthcare centre to receive or attend to them, according to the Gaza Health Ministry.
