Two Russian nationals have been abducted by pirates on Nigeria waters, a statement by the European country’s embassy said on Wednesday
According to the Russian Embassy in Nigeria, the vessel’s captain and a crew member – were abducted by pirates who attacked the vessel Water Phoenix vessel.
The Russian Embassy in Nigeria in a statement confirmed that two Russians were kidnapped from the Water Phoenix vessel on September 8, 30 kilometres – 18.6 nautical miles away from the city of Lagos in Nigeria after an attack by pirates,”
The embassy is currently making efforts, in cooperation with Nigeria’s law enforcement agencies, to establish the whereabouts of the hostages and to get them released.
Reports say a total of 18 people were on board — seven Russians and 11 Filipinos.
