The 30 persons on board a passenger plane that crashed in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, were rescued safely.

According to airport officials, everyone on board the Jubba Airways-operated aircraft, which was arriving on a domestic trip from the interior city of Baidoa, has disembarked.

No early reports of injuries or explanations for the crash’s cause were made.

Dramatic images of fire and smoke from the incident have been shared online, including these ones from Somalia state TV.

Recall that in July 2021, a plane carrying more than 40 passengers crash-landed into a military base in Gedo region, southern Somalia.

Officials said the passengers were evacuated safely after a Skyward flight from Nairobi crash-landed at Burahache military camp, Elwak, Gedo region in Somalia, which is about 15 kilometres from the Somalia-Kenya border.

The plane departed Wilson Airport in Nairobi, the country’s capital, with a destination of Mandera in northeast Kenya.

The plane crashed into the military base, partially breaking its landing gear, according to survivors, who stated they only suffered minor wounds.
