Plateau Governor Imposes 24-Hour Curfew in Mangu LGA

The Governor of Plateau state Caleb Mutfwang, has declared a 24-hour curfew on the Mangu Local Government Area, following security concerns in the area.

The curfew, which commences with immediate effect, will be lifted once law and order has been restored, the Governor said on Tuesday in a press statement.

Spokesperson for the Governor, Gyang Bere in the statement, disclosed that relevant security agencies have been consulted about the decision, and are on standby to ensure peace and stability within the affected locality.

According to the statement, residents of Mangu are urged to adhere strictly to the directive until law and order is restored in the conflict-prone local government area.

Governor Mutfwang decried the persistent attacks on the communities, in spite of efforts being made by the government to tackle the situation.

News Central reports that some communities in Plateau state, including Mangu LGA, constantly suffer attacks by armed bandits, and locals live in perpetual fear of the unknown.

The recent attacks on the communities by some unidentified assailants recorded some of the highest casualties within the location.
