One of Nigeria’s biggest studios has acquired the rights to yet another Nollywood classic, Karishika. Charles Okpaleke’s Play-network studios has added to its long list of Nollywood remakes and sequels. The studio boss confirmed the acquisition of 1996 Nollywood classic ‘Karishika’ and made a call to horror filmmakers to join the project.
“I’m putting together a team of horror film makers. Kindly recommend a Director, DOP, team of script writers etc, with relevant skills that I can work with. I acquired IP rights to Karishika and I wish to work with creatives specialized in horror films” Okpaleke stated.
‘Karashika’ is a classic Nollywood horror movie centering around witchcraft, temptations and its punishment. Directed by Christian Onu and starring Becky Okorie, the hit classic easily became a household favorite.
In the past 3 years, Play network studios has continued to create and successfully market some of the nations biggest reboots; From living in Bondage, Aki and Pawpaw, Nneka the pretty serpent, Glamour girls amongst others. Many fans are certainly looking forward to seeing more reboots especially the six titles the studios has planned between 2023/2024.
