26 Arrested for Illegal Sit-at-Home Order Enforcement in Imo State

26 individuals suspected of being members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and involved in enforcing an illegal sit-at-home order in Imo State have been apprehended by the police. The state police command has also publicly presented 53 additional suspects engaged in a wide range of criminal activities, including conspiracy, armed robbery, murder, defilement, kidnapping, child trafficking, unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, car snatching, and the vandalisation of electrical cables.

Henry Okoye, the police spokesman in the state, informed reporters that the enforcers of the sit-at-home order were captured following a shootout with the police in the Irete community along Onitsha Road, where they were unlawfully enforcing the order.

During the investigation of the criminal activities involving the other 53 suspects, law enforcement officials managed to seize a total of 32 assault guns, comprising two AK-47 rifles, along with 70 rounds of ammunition. Additionally, five stolen vehicles that were subsequently recovered, and seven motorcycles were also retrieved.
