The Nigerian Police have arrested 130 people suspected of cybercrime and hacking.

The suspects include 17 Nigerians and 113 foreign nationals, according to Force spokesman Olumuyiwa Adejobi, who made the announcement on Sunday.

Adejobi stated in a press release that their activities pose a threat to national security.

“This strategic operation was carried out through a coordinated raid on a building in the Next Cash and Carry area of Jahi, Abuja, where the suspects were reportedly using computers and other sophisticated devices to facilitate criminal activities,” stated the deputy governor.

The operation, led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, AIG Benneth Igweh, took place on Saturday, November 3, 2024, and included personnel from the Nigeria Police Force Zone 7 Command Abuja and the National Cyber Crime Centre (NPF-NCCC).

He stated that the Force is continuing its investigation and that exhibits obtained from the accused are being professionally evaluated.

According to the Force spokeswoman, the individuals will be charged in court once the investigations are complete.
