The Lagos State Police Command is investigating a 25-year-old man, Chibunna Chiemelie, for allegedly stabbing his father to death at their home on Oba Kabiru Street, Isolo, Lagos.
Chiemelie was arrested after a neighbor reported the incident to the Aswani Police Division.
Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating that the suspect confessed to the crime following his arrest.
Hundeyin explained, “The incident occurred on October 3, 2024, around 9:30 pm. A complainant informed the Aswani Division that he had received a call from his father’s neighbor, who reported an altercation between Mr. Chiemelie, 68, and his son. Upon rushing to the residence, the complainant found his father’s lifeless body in a pool of blood, prompting the police report.”
Police officers were dispatched to the scene, where a blood-stained knife was found near the victim. Photographs were taken, and the victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Isolo, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect was arrested shortly after and admitted to the crime during questioning. The body has been deposited at the General Hospital mortuary, and investigations are ongoing.
