Police Arrest Suspected Boko Haram Insurgent Bala Usman in Northern Nigeria (News Central TV)

Bala Usman, a 45-year-old alleged Boko Haram terrorist related to recent attacks in the state, has been paraded by the Taraba State Police Command in the country’s Northeast.

According to Abimbola Shokoya, the state commissioner of police, who addressed journalists in Jalingo yesterday, the suspect, Usman, who is also a Boko Haram member, was captured by the police at Tela in the Gasol local area of Taraba.

The Police said in a statement; “On 9th June, 2022, at about 2100, one Bala Usman of Tela town in Gasol local government area who armed himself with a pistol scopion loaded with seven rounds of live ammunition went to the house of Usman Yaki of Gunduma village via Mutum-Biu to kill him.”

During the investigation, the suspect admitted to being a member of the Boko Haram armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate that plagued Niger, Kogi, and Taraba states.

A search was undertaken in the suspect’s home/premise in Tella town, and the following exhibits were discovered buried in the ground within the house:

The residence included 198 rounds of 7.6mm live ammunition, 558 rounds of assault live ammunition, one PISTOL BREECH NO.CZ 999 SCORPION with 6 rounds of live ammo, and 20 small bottles of sodium azide acid.

Other items that were found in the house were eight plastic bottles of Kermi Acid, 27 plastic bottles of locally-made bombs, three facemasks, three pullover jackets, a bunch of cable wire, six lighters, two empty magazines of AK-47 and 47 rifles.
