The Ondo State Police Command has declared travel restrictions before the state’s local elections scheduled for next Saturday.
The Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi, explained in a statement provided to journalists by the Command Spokesperson, CSP Funmilayo Odunlami, on Thursday that movements of vehicles and motorcycles will be restricted for security reasons between 0600 and 1600 hours on the specified date.
The statement claims that “Commuters who might have a reason to use the state as a passage are pre-informed of the restrictions to help adjust their plans ahead of the D-day.”
Security guards, medical professionals, firefighters, and other vital service providers, however, are free to walk around and perform their jobs. Emergencies are also taken into account for relocation.
As part of their civic obligation, the CP asked all eligible voters to follow the guidelines governing the election process.
He also mentioned that every piece of equipment is set up to stop any undesirable behaviour before it can happen.
According to the police chief, sufficient protection has been established to guarantee the efficient flow of both personnel and supplies during the voting period.
