Two hoodlums were killed by police in Ebonyi State on Monday, while trying to enforce a sit-at-home order.
The hoodlums were said to have been members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who are protesting the continued detention of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
The police said they were able to gun down one of the hoodlums, while the others escaped with bullet wounds.
The police also recovered a blue Highlander SUV, a pump-action gun, five live cartridges, four handsets, a Sumec Fireman generator, charms, and nine expended shell of AK-47 rifle ammunition.
Meanwhile, the self-acclaimed leader of a splinter group of IPOB, Simon Ekpa, has declared a 14-day sit-at-home in the entire South-East.
The sit-at-home order is scheduled to begin on July 31 and end on August 14.
Ekpa said the sit-at-home order was to draw the authorities’ attention to Kanu’s continued detention.
He also ordered oil and gas companies operating in the South-South zone to shut down their operations during the period.
