The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended four suspected armed bandits in Kano State, located in the North West of Nigeria. The suspects were arrested following credible intelligence that revealed their plans to purchase an AK-47 rifle.
In a media briefing at the Command’s Headquarters in Bompai, Kano, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, confirmed the arrest and provided further details. The suspects were intercepted at Chula Filling Station with over one million naira in cash, allegedly intended for the illegal arms transaction. Alongside the cash, security operatives recovered three locally made revolver pistols, knives, cutlasses, and charms.

The suspects are currently under investigation at the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID), and once the inquiry is completed, they will be charged in court.
SP Kiyawa expressed the police force’s determination to combat criminal activities in the state. “This achievement is a testament to the Command’s commitment to tackling the infiltration of banditry and other forms of criminality in the state. We appreciate the support and cooperation of the public in our efforts to maintain law and order,” he said.
He also noted that this operation is in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to strengthen security measures and eliminate criminal activities across the nation.
