The office of the Deputy Governor of Edo State, located on Osadebe Avenue in Benin City, the state capital, was sealed off on Sunday by stern-looking policemen.
This office had previously been relocated from the Government House following a dispute between Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu and Governor Godwin Obaseki.
By Sunday, the entry gate was closed, and a police truck equipped with a machine gun and manned by three officers was stationed outside.
It was reported that the staff of the Deputy Governor’s office were directed on Friday to report to the John Odigie Oyegun Public Service Agency.
Additionally, official vehicles, including the Press Crew bus, were moved to the office of the Head of Service within the Government House on Osadebe Avenue.
A staff member of the Deputy Governor’s office commented on Sunday, saying, “We are civil servants.
On Thursday, we were told to report to JOOPSA, which we did on Friday, and we will do the same tomorrow (Monday).”
