Pope Francis on Monday, called on the World to embrace Peace, also referencing the biblical story of the birth of Jesus Christ which signifies peace and harmony.
The Supreme Pontiff made the Christmas Day appeal during his “Urbi et Orbi” (“To the City and the World”) annual address from the Loggia of St. Peter’s Basilica with a large growd gathered below.
He expressed his deep concern over the many difficulties confronting the world, lamenting the absence of peace, particularly the Israel-Hamas war that has raged since October 7.
“My heart grieves for the victims of the abominable attack of 7 October, and I reiterate my urgent appeal for the liberation of those still being held hostage.
“I plead for an end to the military operations with their appalling harvest of innocent civilian victims, and call for a solution to the desperate humanitarian situation by an opening to the provision of humanitarian aid,” he said.
The Pope also appealed calm in some African countries experiencing crisis, while calling for promotion of dialogue for peace.

Brothers and sisters, let us pray for peace in Palestine and in Israel,” he said.
