Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has acknowledged the impact of the club’s ongoing injury crisis, which has disrupted his attempts to steer the troubled team back to form.
Tottenham’s form has dipped significantly, with the team enduring a seven-match winless streak in the Premier League, including six losses. This dismal run has sparked protests from fans, primarily directed at chairman Daniel Levy, and left Spurs languishing in 15th place, just eight points above the relegation zone.
Despite the pressure, Postecoglou’s side did secure a much-needed 3-0 win against Elfsborg on Thursday, ensuring their place in the Europa League last 16. However, the club’s long list of injuries remains a major concern, complicating Postecoglou’s efforts to turn the season around.

The Spurs manager has already been without several key players, including Dominic Solanke, Cristian Romero, Guglielmo Vicario, Brennan Johnson, Destiny Udogie, Wilson Odobert, Timo Werner, and James Maddison. Radu Dragusin became the latest casualty after being forced off during the Elfsborg match, though Micky van de Ven made a positive return from a hamstring injury.
Postecoglou admitted that the mounting injuries have placed the team in a “vicious cycle” that has made it difficult to regain momentum.
As Tottenham prepares for a vital week ahead, they will travel to Liverpool with a 1-0 advantage in the second leg of the League Cup semi-finals, followed by an FA Cup fourth-round clash against Aston Villa on February 9.
With injuries depleting the squad, Postecoglou has turned to youth academy players Dane Scarlett, Mikey Moore, and Damola Ajayi, all of whom scored their first goals for the club in the Elfsborg victory.
Postecoglou remains hopeful that his team can avoid further fitness setbacks as they aim to break a long trophy drought dating back to 2008.
