Ange Postecoglou has admitted uncertainty over his future as Tottenham manager after a disheartening 2-1 loss to Leicester on Sunday deepened the club’s crisis.
The defeat marked Spurs’ sixth loss in seven Premier League games, leaving them in 15th place and only eight points clear of the relegation zone.
Despite Richarlison’s 33rd-minute header offering hope, Leicester responded swiftly, with Jamie Vardy equalising just after halftime and Bilal El Khannouss netting the winner minutes later.
Tottenham fans vented their frustration throughout the match, calling for chairman Daniel Levy to step down and jeering Postecoglou for substituting Richarlison.
Postecoglou, whose squad is plagued by injuries to 10 key players, insisted his team remains committed to the cause.
However, the former Celtic manager admitted he could not guarantee his job security during this turbulent period.
“Who knows? I reckon there is probably a fair chunk that will say ‘no’,” Postecoglou said when asked about his future.
“When you are the manager of a football club, you can be very vulnerable and isolated. I don’t feel that. I feel like this group of players, not for me, are giving everything for the club. I have a group of staff that is committed. I focus on that.”
Tottenham’s recent performances in other competitions have provided some solace. They remain on track for the Europa League last 16 after a 3-2 win over Hoffenheim and hold a 1-0 advantage in the League Cup semi-final against Liverpool.
Despite the bleak Premier League run, Postecoglou believes his side can still salvage their season.
Encouragingly for Spurs, first-choice defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven resumed training this week, and Postecoglou hinted at potential transfer window reinforcements.
