In a tragic incident that unfolded on Wednesday morning, September 6, 2023, in Mpumalanga, South Africa, a 36-year-old pregnant woman met a devastating end when she was allegedly shot and killed by her boyfriend in full view of the public.
This heartbreaking event took place on Samora Machel Street, near Buscor’s bus terminals in Mbombela. Eyewitnesses recounted that the woman was shot shortly after disembarking from a taxi.
According to two bystanders at the scene, the suspect, who had been driving a bakkie, pulled up in front of the victim as she got out of the taxi. In a horrifying turn of events, he reportedly brandished his firearm and fired a shot at her right leg. Subsequently, she fell to the ground, defenseless, and the assailant allegedly fired two fatal shots to her head. After committing this heinous act, the perpetrator swiftly drove off in the direction of Valencia.
In the aftermath of the incident, the vigilant witnesses wasted no time and immediately contacted both the police and paramedics for assistance. Emer-G-Med swiftly responded to the distress call, but tragically, they could only pronounce the woman dead at the scene.
Colonel Donald Mdhluli, the police spokesperson, officially confirmed the grim incident and revealed that a murder case had been filed at Nelspruit Police Station. He stated, “A 36-year-old woman has been gunned down while en route to work, in full view of commuters. The incident took place in Mbombela CBD next to a bus terminal on Wednesday 06 September 2023.
