Matchday 7 in the Premier League witnessed mouth-watering fixtures, with Arsenal returning to the summit of the table after a comfortable win over Brentford in a London Derby.
Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez has not been able to find the form he showed last season for Manchester City and came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute in City’s 3-0 away win against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
Nwaneri Emerges Youngest Premier League Player
Ethan Nwaneri, 15, made Premier League history when he entered the game as a substitute for Arsenal in their 3-0 victory over Brentford on Sunday. This victory saw Arsenal reclaim first place in the league.
The first player under the age of 16 to take the field in the competition is Nwaneri, who replaced Vieira in the second minute of stoppage time. Nwaneri is 15 years and 181 days old.
The previous youngest player to play in the league was Harvey Elliott, currently of Liverpool, who made his top-flight debut for Fulham at the age of 16 years, 38 days.
Ndidi, Iheanacho, Daka Lose Sixth Match of The Season with Leicester
The Nigerian duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, as well as Zambia’s Patson Daka, were on the losing side as Leicester City lost their sixth consecutive Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
Tottenham took three points thanks to a series of attacking substitutions and a defensive disaster from Leicester, with Rodrigo Bentancur first slotting past Danny Ward before Heung-Min Son scored three stunning goals to seal the win.
Wilfred Ndidi made a good block to deny Tottenham’s Ivan Perisic, but smashed his own shot high and wide and conceded possession cheaply for Bentancur to put Spurs ahead, then was booked for a foul on Hojbjerg.
Kelechi Iheanacho came on for Dewsbury Hall in the 76th minute but was unable to make an impact for Leicester City, as he played a terrible cross in the closing stages, attempting to find Vardy.
The loss leaves Leicester bottom of the Premier League standings with manager, Brendan Rodgers job on the line.
Iwobi Shines in Everton’s First Win of the 2022-23 Season
Everton defeated West Ham 1-0 at Goodison Park, ending a six-game winless streak. Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi was named Man of the Match. The 26-year-old set up Neal Maupay, who fired the game’s only goal in the first half. The Nigerian has contributed to Everton’s last two Premier League goals.
Iwobi has been in superb form since Frank Lampard was appointed manager of Everton.
Thomas Partey Returns from Injury as Arsenal Thrash Brentford
Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey returned to Arsenal’s starting lineup as the Gunners defeated Brentford 3-0 on Sunday. Partey, who has been out for three weeks with an injury, started in midfield and lasted 78 minutes before being replaced by Albert Sambi Lokonga.
Despite Partey’s recent return from injury, manager Mikel Arteta inserted him right back into the starting lineup, and the midfielder repaid his manager’s faith with an impressive performance.
The former Atletico Madrid star broke up the lines and set off the Gunners’ forward play against Brentford. He also had the most touches (93) and completed the most passes (73) while making seven recoveries.
