President Buhari Hosts APC Chair, Tinubu, Oshiomole, Others at Iftar (News Central TV)

President Muhammadu Buhari will this evening host leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the the breaking of fast ( Iftar dinner) at the State House, Abuja.

In a letter addressed to the National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, by the Chief of Staff to the President, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and dated April 22, 2022, said the Iftar dinner would start by 6:30pm.

Among the invitees for the dinner are former Lagos State Governor and presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, former National Chairmen of the APC, Dr John Odigie-Oyegun and Adams Oshiomhole, former Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, former Ogun State Governor, Olusegun Osoba.

Others are the first interim chairman of the APC, Bisi Akande, former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu-Sheriff, former Edo State Governor, Oserheimen Osunbor, former Yobe State Governor, Bukar Ibrahim, General Muhammed Magoro, Senators Lawal Shuaibu, Aba Aji, Tijjani Tumsah, Fati Bala, Abubakar Guru and Nasiru Danu, former Zamfara State Governor, Ahmed Yarima, and former Sokoto State Governor, Aliyu Wamakko.

The letter read, “I write to inform you that President Muhammadu Buhari has directed that invitation be extended to the attached list of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress to join Mr President to break Ramadan Fast on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 1830 hours in the Presidential Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja.

“In this regard, you are kindly requested to invite them to attend. The leaders are to arrive the Pilot Gate at 1630 hours for Rapid Covid-19 testing at the State House Conference Centre and be seated at the venue by 1800 hours.”

Breaking of Ramadan fast (Iftar) appears to have become a political event lately as the country moves toward party primaries and the 2023 general elections.

Shortly before declaring his interest to run for president, the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, who is a pastor, hosted governors, senators and members of the House of Representatives separately to iftar.

Few days ago, the President’s wife, Aisha Buhari, also hosted some presidential hopefuls of the APC and the opposition PDP for the Ramadan fast-breaking feast. There are about 10 aspirants jostling for the ticket of the ruling party.
