President Buhari Presents 2022 Budget Thursday

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari will on Thursday, October 6, 2021, by 12.00pm present the 2022 Appropriations Bill at a joint session of the National Assembly.

Ovie Omo-Agege, The Deputy Senate President of the Nigerian Senate hint at this on Tuesday after reading and referring President Muhammadu Buhari’s submission of the revised 2022-2024 Medium Term Fiscal Framework to the Committee on Finance for legislative input.

The president had earlier on Tuesday, presented a revised 2022-2024 Medium Term Expenditure (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) to the Senate for approval.

The revised MTEF/FSP provides the basic structure for the estimates and assumptions that underline the annual budget.

President Muhammadu Buhari also seeks to increase Nigeria’s 2022 budget from N13.98 trillion to N16.45 trillion. This was contained in a letter to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.

The changes, he said (President Buhari) are in line with the newly enacted Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
