The second and final four-year term of Mr. Idris O Musa’s appointment as Director General of the National Oil Spill Detection and Response Agency (NOSDRA) has been authorised by President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to Mohammed Abdullahi, the environment minister, the reappointment will begin on April 1, 2023.
On April 1st, 2019, Mr. Musa was initially chosen for a four-year term. The Agency’s major accomplishments over the previous four years, under his leadership, served as the foundation for his appointment for a second term.
Among them are the digitalisation of the Agency’s records and review of the various forms for oil spill management process. Additionally, he ran numerous campaigns to raise public awareness of the risks posed by vandalism at oil sector facilities, according to Nigeria’s environment ministry.
The ministry added that as part of his efforts to highlight openness in environmental management in the oil and gas industry, he also revolutionised online and real-time processing of environmental compliance documents and management, as well as the National Gas Flare Tracker and Oil Spill Monitor.
