President Buhari Returns From Spain, Set to Depart for Ghana for ECOWAS Summit

Buhari Departs Abuja for COP-15 Conference in Abidjan (News Central TV)

Less than twenty hours after returning from an official visit to Spain, President Muhammadu Buhari has left Nigeria for an official visit to Ghana.

Buhari arrived on Friday at the end of a three-day state visit to Spain.

The president on arrival, observed his Juma’at prayers at the State House Mosque, Abuja.

Thereafter, he met the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State as well as his counterpart from Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule.

The president’s office said he will leave for Ghana on Saturday to attend an ECOWAS summit. He will, however, return same day – ahead of yet another crucial meeting with Presidential hopefuls running under the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The primaries will determine the party’s presidential candidate for next year’s poll.

Among other deliberations, ECOWAS briefing will include updates on the security concerns in Mali and Guinea.

The convention has been scheduled to hold between Monday, June 6 and Wednesday, June 8 at the Eagle Square Abuja.

President Buhari had before his trip to Madrid, Spain, met with the 22 governors of the APC and pleaded with them that he needed their support in choosing his successor.

The President’s meeting with the presidential aspirants of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday night is slated for 8pm at the presidential villa, Abuja.

The president is expected to communicate his preferred 2023 presidential candidate.
