Tunisia’s President Kais Saied has announced that everyone will have the opportunity to comment on his proposed political reforms.
Kais Saied, who suspended parliament and seized executive power last year, was speaking on state television.
He plans to hold a referendum on constitutional change in July.
Thousands of people demonstrated in Tunis on Sunday, some yelling “throw down the president,” according to Saied.
Critics claim that the president is seeking to bolster his own authority and that he aims to curtail civil liberties achieved during the 2011 Arab Spring rebellion.
He has stated that the reforms will assist Tunisia in ending years of government stalemate and lacklustre economic growth.
